Women's Hockey Asia Cup LIVE: The Indian women's hockey team went down 1-4 to hosts China in the Super 4s stage of the 2025 Women's Hockey Asia Cup on Thursday.

Despite the loss, India managed to breach the Chinese defence, becoming the first team to score against the Olympic silver medallist in the tournament.

Mumtaz Khan found India's lone goal of the match in the third quarter.

This loss means that India's future in the tournament and the 2026 FIH Women's World Cup qualification will now hang on the team's final match against Japan on Saturday.

    38' - GOAL, INDIA!

Another error from Vaishnavi as he turns the ball over at a dangerous position but she recovers well to get the possession back.

India move the ball from the defence from that point to create an attack, thanks to Neha. A beautiful run on the right flank from Lalremsiami before the ball finds Mumtaz Khan on the middle.

The young Khan takes a couple of steps to enter circle and launches a powerful tomahawk from top of the circle. It beats the goalkeeper.

India have scored against the run of play!

    33' - China miss PC!

A penalty corner now for China - their first of the match. Thankfully for India, the drag flick is not the best. It is high and danger is averted with ease.

31' - CHINA DOUBLE THEIR LEAD!

A massive error inside the circle from Vaishnavi and this time India pay the price. Her clearance is intercepted and the ball lands to Chen Yang after a deflection.

All Yang has to do is tap it past the Indian goalkeeper. China have doubled their lead.

31' - Back LIVE for the second half!

We are back LIVE for the second half. And we have confirmation as to why India's goal was denied.

"One of the Indian players broke early at the top of the penalty corner and the whistle was blown before the ball hit the back of the goal and that is why the goal did not stand," informs the commentator on air.

That, however, is a thing of past.

For now, India start with the possession. They move from right to left this time.

    HALF TIME!

End of a rather intriguing second quarter. India have held their own against China in their own backyard. Salima Tete and girls are constantly posing questions to the Chinese defence, which has been simply unbreakable.

India did manage to break through but they had a goal disallowed for starting the PC routine before the umpire's whistle. There was also an early PC whistle before Salima Tete's tap into the goal.

India will be frustrated to head into the break a goal down, but they can take a lot of heart from the way they have played.

The only question is if they can continue this in the third quarter? Answers in a bit.

    28' - India miss PC!

This time, Neha Goyal's drag flick strikes the Chinese first rusher. It is hit hard and the Chinese defender is down on the field in pain. A short halt in play as India rues yet another missed opportunity.

    28' - Goal DISALLOWED, INDIA!

Well, well, well...India slot the drag flick in from that penalty corner but the umpire isn't happy. She argues that India injected the ball in for the PC routine before her whistle.

The Indians aren't happy. But it is what it is. The goal from Neha Goyal doesn't stand and India are instructed to take the PC again.

    27' - PC, INDIA!

India's constant attacks finally pay off as they open up the Chinese defence. The shot is taken on the reverse from Neha Goyal and it is saved. Salima Tete tapped in the rebound but the whistle for penalty corner has already been blown.

The goal doesn't stand, but India has a PC.

26' - Brilliant defence from China

India try to penetrate the circle multiple times from the right but to no avail. The Chinese defence just surrounds the player with the ball and overwhelms them.
