Women's Hockey Asia Cup LIVE: The Indian women's hockey team went down 1-4 to hosts China in the Super 4s stage of the 2025 Women's Hockey Asia Cup on Thursday.

Despite the loss, India managed to breach the Chinese defence, becoming the first team to score against the Olympic silver medallist in the tournament.

Mumtaz Khan found India's lone goal of the match in the third quarter.

This loss means that India's future in the tournament and the 2026 FIH Women's World Cup qualification will now hang on the team's final match against Japan on Saturday.

20' - Good interception from Ishika

China with yet another stunning run on the left flank. The cross is sent in as well but Ishika stands tall in the circle with a clean interception and clearance for India.

The left flank is opening up quite frequently for India. Something which needs tidying, if they are to put China under pressure.

    END OF FIRST QUARTER!

End of an eventful first quarter. China started strong and they found their goal just four minutes in, thanks to Zou Meirong.

The Olympic silver medallists smartly reduced the pace of the game since as India tried to catch up. Salima Tete and girls have had their fair share of chances as well but the Chinese defence has been rock solid to maintain their clean sheet record in the tournament.

14' - Excellent tackle inside the circle from India

India hand a dangerous turnover inside the circle, while looking for a long pass. It is a golden opportunity for China to double their lead, but India bring it under control with a clean tackle.

That was a poor, poor turnover but an equally brilliant tackle - all within a matter of seconds.

Vaishnavi both the culprit and the saviour on that occasion for India.

10' - Excellent review from China!

Udita steps up with the drag flick on that penalty corner and it is blocked rather comfortably. The ground clearance lands to Navneet, who takes a shot from the top of the circle.

It hits a Chinese defender and India are handed yet another penalty corner. China ask for a review. They feel Navneet's shot was dangerous.

The TV umpire agrees. It was above knee height. The PC decision is reversed. Excellent review from China. India remain goalless.

    10' - PC, INDIA!

A good push on the right from Navneet Kaur to Salima Tete. The latter crosses it into the circle to Lalremsiami, who has her shot saved by the Chinese goalkeeper.

There is chaos inside the circle and the ball eventually hits the feet of a Chinese defender. First penalty corner of the match and it falls in India's favour.

    Can India score?

8' - Good defence from China!

India with a good move and there is a good push into the circle, but Zhang Ying intercepts cleanly to avoid any danger. That's good defence from China.

China have smartly reduced the pace of the game over the last few minutes after having scored the opening goal. India still looking to find their feet.

    4' - CHINA SCOREEE!

Just as I type that China have had a better start, the Olympic silver medallist have broken the deadlock.

A good circle penetration from the left flank and an even better cross. The first shot is intercepted by Jyoti, but Zou Meirong finds herself at a good position to pounce on the rebound.

She slots the ball in. China have taken the lead.

Hold on, India have asked for a review. The replays show nothing wrong. The TV umpires asks the on field umpire to stay with the original call. The goal stands. India trails.

    4' - China with a better start

Nothing threatening yet in the match but China seem to be more fluid on the field. They have enjoyed majority of the possession, and this certainly isn't what India would have hoped for.

    1' - We are underway!

China start with the possession. India move from left to right of the screen.
