Highlights from India's clash against China in the 2024-25 FIH Women's Pro League.

2024-25 FIH Pro League: The Indian women's hockey team went down 0-3 to China in what was their penultimate match of the 2024-25 FIH Pro League at the Ernst Reuter Sportfeld in Berlin on Saturday.
India started off well in the match, creating better chances early in first quarter. However, it was China who scored first via a penalty corner in the second quarter.
Once the opening goal was found, India were taken aback and conceded a second just minutes later. The third quarters saw the women in blue playing their best attacking hockey of the European leg but they failed to find a goal.
Instead, it was China who found a third on a counter attack to all but seal the match with just seconds left on the clock.

END OF FIRST QUARTER!
That's the end of the first quarter. India were arguably the better side to start things off, creating a couple of good moves.
However, China have grown into this match. It required two crucial saves from Savita Punia to deny them and keep the deadlock for India at the end.
An interesting second quarter awaits us.

A stick challenge on the baseline hands China their second penalty corner with just 16 seconds left on the clock. However, Savita once again steps up with the rescue for India.

13' - SAVE, SAVITA!
A brilliant reverse stick from the left by China and Savita Punia has to stretch her legs to the limit to deflect that ball away.
The first real chance for China in this match and veteran Punia does well to deny them.

This is a good start to the contest from India, who are eager to press forward. There are no second thoughts on how they want to attack and move forward from the women in blue.
They have certainly created better chances so far but now need to find ways to convert these chances into goals.

5' - China miss PC!
Now China have missed a penalty corner opportunity following a foot just on the top of the circle from India.
The PC injection wasn't the best and the battery fails to collect it cleanly. Easy clearance for India despite China's best attempt to recover from that mess.

4' - India miss PC!
The early pressure from India hands them the first penalty corner of the match. The onus is on the young Deepika to score from the drag flick.
Deepika's drag flick hits the third runner on the shoulder and is deflected away. She asks for a second penalty corner there but the umpire judges it a dangerous ball instead.
That's another chance missed for India.

3' - Baljeet goes wide
A good run on the left from Baljeet as she dodges past the Chinese high press to penetrate the circle. She has an open shot at the goal but hits it wide.
Good signs for India early on, but that's not a chance you hope to squander in a must win match like this.
