Highlights from India's clash against China in the 2024-25 FIH Women's Pro League.

2024-25 FIH Pro League: The Indian women's hockey team went down 0-3 to China in what was their penultimate match of the 2024-25 FIH Pro League at the Ernst Reuter Sportfeld in Berlin on Saturday.
India started off well in the match, creating better chances early in first quarter. However, it was China who scored first via a penalty corner in the second quarter.
Once the opening goal was found, India were taken aback and conceded a second just minutes later. The third quarters saw the women in blue playing their best attacking hockey of the European leg but they failed to find a goal.
Instead, it was China who found a third on a counter attack to all but seal the match with just seconds left on the clock.

45' - China extend their LEAD!
A counter attack from China and there's an inch perfect aerial pass from the mid line into the circle. The Indian defence is caught off guard as the Chinese forward receives it cleanly and puts it to her teammate on the right, who just has to tap the ball into the goal.
India have been jolted yet again in this must win encounter.

39' - A sedate phase of play
A very sedate quarter so far. The teams happy to build from the back whenever they have possession but there has been a lot of midfield turnovers as soon as they try to push forward.
Just a couple of circle penetrations but even those have been rather timid.

HALF TIME!
That bit of play also brings curtains down on the first half. India started off well in the opening quarter, creating better chances but failed to convert.
China got into the rhythm towards the fag end of the first 15 minutes but Savita Punia kept India in the contest with a couple of good saves. The former Indian captain, however, couldn't stand tall for long.
Two penalty corners in the second quarter saw China convert to open up a 2-0 lead. They very nearly had a third as well but Punia ensured that she isn't beaten a third time.
A lot to ponder for the Indians in the half time break.

30' - SAVE, SAVITA!
Chen Yi with a stellar run right down the centre as the clocks runs down. She has completely opened up the Indian defence and Savita Punia has to leave her post to cut down the angle.
The Indian goalkeeper dives forward full length to deflect the ball away before Chen could take a shot. That could very well have been the third goal for China.

26' - CHINA SCORE, AGAIN!
Another penalty corner for China and they make it count yet again. Zhang Ying with the drag flick this time and she bisects the Indian goalkeeper and postwoman to perfection and slots the ball in.
China have doubles their lead within a matter of minutes. India in a disarray.

21' Goal – China Lead!
China win a penalty corner and make it count! A clean injection is followed by a powerful drag flick, which takes a heavy deflection off Savita Punia as she attempts to defend. The ball loops dangerously and Chen Yang is perfectly placed to slot it in.

Q2, 18' : Still goalless!
China are sitting deep, staying compact in defence, and making it difficult for India to find space in the final third. India pushing forward with more possession, but the Chinese wall is holding firm so far.
