India finally ended their medal drought on the final day of freestyle Wrestling at the World Championships in Zagreb, Croatia, on Thursday.

The defending bronze medalist, Antim Panghal (53 Kg), clinched the bronze medal in women's 53 Kg with a dominating 9-1 win over Emma Malmgren of Sweden.

Meanwhile, Asian Manisha Bhanwala, who earned a repechage, could not extend her run in Croatia, losing to former champion Dudova of Bulgaria.

Antim ended India's freestyle wrestling campaign on a high note, winning a World Championships bronze medal in Croatia, which is her second consecutive Bronze at Worlds.

Antim showed both brilliant attacking and defensive play against and didn't allow her any low shots, clinching a dominating 9-1 win.

This was India's first and only freestyle medal in Croatia, continuing the Nation's streak of World Championships medals, which was started in 2018.

If she defeated Emma Malmgren, she would be the second Indian woman, after Vinesh Phogat, to win two World Championship medals.

This will also continue India's streak of back-to-back medals at the World Championships, started 7 years back in 2018 with Pooja Dhanda's bronze medal.

Antim Panghal is the only Indian freestyle wrestler left in the competition.

She will be competing in the women's 53 kg bronze medal match against Emma Jonna Denise Malmgren of Sweden.

Coincidentally, this is the repeat of the last World Championships bronze medal match in women's 53 Kg, where Antim came from behind to topple Emma by 16-6.
