Gowrinandana wins women's 400m semi-final 2

There was a long delay before the start of women's 400m semi-final 2. The athletes were called to the track before the stadium faced a power outage.

The power was back soon enough, but the race took a good 10 minutes to commence. Some technical glitch, it seems.

Once it started, Kerala's Gowrinandana raced to victory, clocking 54.40s ahead of the experienced Poovamma (54.52s).
