Asian Shooting C'ships: Anantjeet Naruka ends 6-year wait for an Individual skeet gold

Olympian Anantjeet Singh Naruka ended India's gold medal drought with a men's skeet Individual title at the 2025 Asian Shooting Championships in Shymkent, Kazakhstan, on Wednesday.
He shot a brilliant 57/60 hits to edge past the Kuwaiti shooter Mansour Alrashidi in the final to upgrade his silver medal from the last edition and win an Individual skeet gold for India after 6 years.
He finished the ranking round in second place with a score of 119, and even in the final, he maintained his place in the top two throughout to clinically win the title despite having one miss-hit in the final series.
Bronze in Air Pistol Mixed Team event
The duo of Suruchi Singh and Saurabh Chaudhary bagged the bronze medal in the air pistol mixed team event with a 17-9 victory over the Chinese Taipei pair of Heng Yu-Liu and Hsiang Chen-Hsieh.
In the qualification round, the Indian pair finished in 5th position with a combined total of 578 (20x), where Suruchi came out as a top scorer with 292, while Saurabh lagged behind a bit at 286.
On the other hand, the second Indian pair of Palak Gulia and Aditya Malra missed out on a medal match, finishing 10th in the qualification round with a combined total of 575 (20x).
With this, India has now jumped up to second place in the overall seniors medal tally with five medals, 1 Gold, 1 silver, and 3 Bronze medals.
Another Heartbreak for Maheshwari Chauhan
The Paris Olympics fourth-place finisher in the mixed team event had yet another heartbreak in the major competition as she again finished 4th in the Individual women's skeet event at the Asian Championships.
She shot 35/40 hits after 4 series to miss out on a podium finish against Kazakhstan's Anastassiya Molchanova by just 1 hit.
However, she had one medal, from the competition, as she clinched the skeet women's team bronze medal alongside Raiza Dhillon and Ganemat Sekhon with a combined total of 329 hits.
In the Junior category, the Indian air pistol mixed team pair of Vanshika Chaudhary and Jonathan Gavit clinched the gold medal match with a 16-14 win over South Korean pair of Kim Yejin and Kim Dooyeon.
With this, India maintained its lead at the top of the Junior category with six medals - 4 Gold, 1 Silver, and 1 Bronze.
