November 30 is the deadline for the eight existing IPL teams to announce a maximum of four players they will retain for IPL 2022.

IPL teams will be allowed to retain a maximum of 4 players before the IPL 2022 auction (BCCI/IPL)
All the previously existing eight IPL teams - Mumbai Indians (MI), Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Delhi Capitals (DC), Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Punjab Kings (PBKS), Rajasthan Royals (RR), Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) - will announce their list of retained players on Tuesday. The retention event will be broadcast at 9:30 pm.
According to the rules, each franchise can retain a maximum of 4 players. Of these, a maximum of two can be overseas cricketers and a maximum of three can be Indians.

Following these retentions, the two new teams (to be based in Lucknow and Ahmedabad) will pick a maximum of three players between December 1 and 25 before the mega auction in the last week of December or in January. Star India, which secured the broadcasting rights for the Indian Premier League for the 2018-22 period, will broadcast the event from 9:30 pm on Tuesday.

Kolkata Knight Riders: Sunil Narine, Andre Russell, Varun Chakravarthy and Venkatesh Iyer.

RCB have added Mohammed Siraj to their retention list, alongside Virat Kohli and Glenn Maxwell, according to ESPNCricinfo.

IPL 2020 Retention Deadline approaches
The BCCI has advised the franchises to submit the list of retentions by 4pm, although the deadline is 5pm, Tuesday (November 30), so that the broadcaster can shoot the programme by 5. The broadcast is at 9.30 pm. So, the decisions seem to have been already. Now the only wait is for the official announcements.

Why players like Rashid Khan, Hardik Pandya might opt to be released
Since teams have to mention the order of retention and the salary players will get is dependant on that, some players know their market worth is much higher and are opting out of franchises where they have great history or rapport with.
Reports suggests SRH have opted for Williamson over Rashid Khan as their first pick, which is why the Afghan spinner is set to opt of of the retention list. Same for Hardik Pandya for MI, as MI will go for Rohit Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah as their first picks.
