Japan Open 2025: Satwik-Chirag, Lakshya Sen win, Sindhu exits – Highlights

Top Indian shuttlers, including the likes of former badminton world No. 1 men's doubles pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy-Chirag Shetty, world championships medallist Lakshya Sen, double Olympic medallist PV Sindhu, and others, opened their campaign at the 2025 Japan Open Super 750 on Wednesday.
Satwik-Chirag were the first of the seven Indian shuttlers/pairs in action on the second day of the competition, when they went up against South Korea's Kang Min Hyuk and Ki Dong Ju.

On the other court, Lakshya Sen is in complete control of the proceedings. He has opened up an 11-7 lead at the second mid-game interval and looks set for a straight games victory.

Not the best of starts for Satwik-Chirag
Not an ideal start on return for Satwik-Chirag as the former world No 1 pair trail 8-11 at the mid-game interval against the South Koreans. They have also used up a review, challenging unsuccessfully.

Meanwhile, the men's doubles pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty have just walked out to the court No 1.
They are up against South Korea's Kang and Ki.

Lakshya takes the opening game
Much better from Wang Zheng Xing in the second half of the opening game there, but Lakshya had too much of an advantage to lose the plot.
The Indian comfortably pockets the first game 21-11.
